THONET’s new desk S 1200 wins MIAW 2014
International design experts honour Thonet: the desk S 1200 has been awarded by 22,000 jurors – among them architects, designers and design professionals – in the category “furniture” at this year’s Muuuz International Awards (MIAW). According to the jurors, the desk designed by Randolf Schott in collaboration with the Thonet Design Team in 2014 is among the 45 most innovative products from 15 nations that have been brought to market since 1 January 2012. The desk was especially developed for the home office and – inspired by the Thonet tubular steel collection – not only enables ergonomic working but also adds a touch of elegance to any room due to its clear lines.
Elegant and functional
Minimalist design, a well-conceived tubular steel frame, and fine materials are the features that distinguish Thonet’s desk S 1200. Due to its compact dimensions – 88 cm high, 11 cm wide and 66.5 cm deep – the desk ideally fits into the smallest of spaces. Its angled tubular steel frame provides a high level of comfort even in narrow rooms such as hallways or niches. In addition, the footrest enables relaxed sitting.
Muuuz International Awards – experts made the decision
The ArchiDesignClub and the French Muuuz magazine, which focuses on trends and inspirations for designers and architects, presented the Muuuz International Award (MIAW) on 12 June 2014 in Paris. The award aims to honour the most innovative products in the sector. With a large-scale campaign, the organisers once more managed to fascinate a broad range of design aficionados with high-quality products from many different kinds of manufacturers.
