Chairs S 180
When the old city hall in Straelen needed restoration in 2016 but the city’s budget was tight, bofrost* stepped in to help out. Thanks to Europe’s largest direct distributor of frozen foods headquartered in Straelen in the Lower Rhine region, the multipurpose hall was able to shine with new glamour after just ten weeks of construction time. Under the name bofrost*Halle, it now comprises a sports hall, an event hall that can be divided up into areas of different sizes with separating walls, and a cafeteria for the adjoining school centre. The building was designed with fresh colours and clear structures by architect Michael van Ooyen. A colourful and lively look resulted, especially in the light-flooded cafeteria with tables of varying heights and chairs in different colours. About 200 chairs of the stackable Thonet range S 180 with chrome-plated skid frames and seat shells in three different shades of red were chosen. 20 models of the same range in an upholstered version with armrests and in discrete dark grey are also used in the city hall.
