Small but noble: the Russian architectural office Studio Bazi designed a completely furnished apartment in a space of just about 33 m² right in the heart of Moscow. Here, every square metre was considered and used for the planning – in addition to plenty of daylight and an elegant yet discrete interior design, the living space convinces with practical built-in cupboards.
In a cosy reading corner with a large book shelf, a club chair S 35 designed by Marcel Breuer allows users to enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the city. With model S 35 Marcel Breuer succeeded in combining the function of a tubular steel cantilever chair with the construction of a single continuous line. The result is a dual cantilever effect that allows the armrests to flex independently from the seat and to balance the flexing of the backrest and seat frame. The architects chose black, full grain butt leather. The matching footstool is used as a practical storage surface in the bedroom.
Two side tables from the Thonet portfolio were integrated, as well: In the small apartment, range B 97 proves a versatile companion – with black-lacquered frame and natural wood panel as a book tray in the living room, and in its classical version as a bedside table. The team of architects also decided to use the beautifully designed KUULA table lamp by Uli Budde in a black version, which is perfectly suited as a reading lamp on B 97 in the bedroom.
