Casino Eslava Bar, Plaza del Castillo, Pamplona (ES)
Architecture: Kahle Oiza Arauzo
A chair conquers the world: with more than 50 million copies by 1930 alone, the bentwood classic 214 is not only the world’s most-built chair and the epitome of modern mass consumption but is also considered the most successful 19th century industrial product. The creators of the Casino Eslava Bar at Plaza del Casillo in Pamplona, Spain, use the chair in a creative and original way: while the 214 chairs offer several seating options during the day, they become artworks on the wall in the evening. The chairs are quickly and simply hung on nails to free up the dance floor for visitors.
