The historical building Graanmarkt 13 in Antwerp houses a luxury apartment, a restaurant, a gallery, an event venue and a boutique. The challenge to furnish it was hence particularly multifaceted. The seventeenth-century townhouse was renovated by Vincent Van Duysen, one of Belgium’s best architects, and then transformed into a stylish and inviting place with a unique claim – where everyone should feel at ease – by the owners, Tim Van Geloven and Ilse Cornelissens. Thonet’s bentwood classics 209 and 214 used in the gallery and luxurious apartment, which is available for rent for short and long stays, contribute to the unique comfort. Thanks to their soft lines, clear formal language and discrete appearance, the two chairs optimally fit in with the total picture of the concept house.
