Working worlds as places of well-being – Thonet at Orgatec 2016

While at imm cologne and the Salone del Mobile in Milan, the focus was on furniture that allows for the creation of holistic living environments. At Orgatec (25-29 October 2016) Thonet will concentrate on comprehensive working worlds: from open office workspace with a lounge character to the home office with a design standard and the homely conference room. At its booth in hall 9.1 (A48 – B49) the Frankenberg-based company presents new products and classics for the most diversified solutions and uses. Under the proven motto “Residential Workspace” Thonet introduces the new and versatile CANOR acoustic partition alongside the extension of club chair S 830, which now ensures diversity in lounge and lobby areas with an optional writing panel and new frame versions. Furthermore, the conference chair S 95 with castors and tilt mechanism and an update of folding table S 1195 Evo stand in the spotlight. In addition, the interactive seat and row numbering defines a new standard in the market.

What means sound and at the same time swallows it? CANOR!

Sound insulation, room divider, bulletin board and storage – Thonet’s new acoustic partition CANOR unites many functions. Thanks to numerous individualisation options, the new acoustic partition adjusts to a wide range of requirements and environments. Due to the special upholstery and textile cover, it reduces noises, enabling an undisturbed and concentrated working atmosphere. The selection of numerous fabrics and several types of wood for the frame allows CANOR to be adapted to individual tastes and environments.

Please report: new interactive radio-controlled seat numbering

The new displays for electronic seat numbering integrated in the backrests of chairs represent an innovation for auditorium seating: in collaboration with Mauser Sitzkultur, Thonet has developed a flexible radio-controlled numbering system. The proven technology comes from the retail business and is related to supermarket price labels. After setting up the rows of chairs, the individual chairs are localised, configured and provided with the necessary information (row/seat) with the assistance of a high-quality handheld scanner. Individual texts and logos can optionally be displayed. The displays are centrally accessed via a server, which is an ordinary computer such as a notebook. The position of each display is shown on the server in a schematic seating plan. Each display (size: 1.6 inches) can be individually accessed from the server – also during events – and individually adjusted. Use of the new numbering system is possible with all upholstered chairs.

Family addition: the S 830 becomes a workplace

At Orgatec, the striking club chair range S 830 is presented with even more variety while always keeping an eye on the Thonet tradition: in addition to the available base plate and tubular steel four-leg frames (S 832 and S 831), the new collection now includes version 835 with bentwood legs, the cantilever tubular steel frame S 834 with a seat height adjusted for dining tables, and the four-leg cross base S 833. The new writing panel is another highlight, making the S 830 a flexible workplace. The small, swivel panel is mounted on the seat shell – either on the right or left side. The teardrop-shaped surface is designed for DIN A4 format and available in easy to care for HPL laminate (white, grey or black).

Even more ergonomic: the conference chair range S 95 with tilt mechanism

The sporty and elegant conference chair S 95 has also experienced further development: an integrated tilt mechanism ensures a flexible posture and non-tiring sitting during long conferences. The automatic return mechanism of the S 95 swivel chair versions is also new, allowing the seat to automatically return to its original position when the user gets up. Various frame versions and numerous details for individualisation – from the upholstery to the cover fabric and armrests as well as sophisticated inlays – create a family of chairs that adjusts to the most diverse environments and tastes.

Practical as always: new frames for folding table S 1195

The S 1195 by Delphin Design is a lightweight folding table that does not reveal its practical function at first sight. For 15 years the folding table characterised by its clear, reserved aesthetics and high quality has been an inherent part of the Thonet portfolio. It has now been refined with the addition of two more frame versions that are also positioned at the ends of the tabletop and thus guarantee ample leg room: chrome-plated round tube, mitred round tube or rectangular tube – all table leg versions can be folded up and stored in a space-saving way since the tables can be stacked tightly when folded up. Assembly and disassembly are especially easy and can be handled by one person. The tabletop is available with melamine resin coating or, upon request, in other materials.
